Apprentice and Trainee Re-engagement Register
In April last year, the National Apprentice Employment Network (NAEN) launched the Apprentice and Trainee Re-engagement Register to support displaced apprentices and trainees from small businesses who lost their jobs due to COVID-19.
The Register was available to apprentices and trainees from small businesses and who were in a training contract at 1 March 2020 and provided them the opportunity to register and upload their details. The Register was later expanded to include those who lost their jobs and were in a training contract at 1 July 2020, along with apprentices and trainees from medium sized business.
The Register was aligned to the government’s Supporting Apprentices and Trainees (SAT) measure that provided assistance to employers to retain apprentices and trainees that might otherwise have been stood down.
The SAT wage subsidy concluded at 31 March 2021, therefore the Re-engagement Register is no longer taking new registrations. (https://www.dese.gov.au/supporting-apprentices-and-trainees)
We are pleased with the united effort undertaken to assist and retain as many apprentices and trainees as possible over this time.
The national register also worked alongside various State Training Authority registers. Please find below some relevant links for employers and apprentices and trainees to support ongoing re-engagement activities.
