Apprentice and Trainee Reengagement Register

About NAEN

The National Apprentice Employment Network (NAEN) is Australia’s largest employer network of apprentices and trainees. Across metropolitan, rural, regional and remote Australia, the network employs some 25,000 apprentices and trainees in a diverse range of industries.

The employer network is unique, as it represents the practice of Group Training under which Group Training Organisations (GTOs) directly employ apprentices and trainees and place them with host businesses.

General Information about the Register

The National Apprentice and Employment Network has been contracted by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Skills and Employment to manage a portal for apprentices and trainees from small businesses (less than 20 employees) who have lost their jobs, and employers of any size (including Group Training Organisations) who may be looking to take on an apprentice or trainee.

Who can register:

  • Apprentices and trainees who are out of work and were undertaking a Certificate III apprenticeship or traineeship can register and upload their resume.
  • Employers, including Group Training Organisations, can register their details and post apprenticeship and traineeship vacancies.

Apprentice and Trainee Eligibility

NAEN is committed to do what it can through this portal to assist out-of-work apprentices and trainees to connect with employers or Group Training Organisations who have job vacancies.

NAEN encourages apprentices and trainees who are out of work to register their details on this portal.

When registered you will be able to view any potential employer vacancies, and employers will also be able to view your profile upon request.

If you were previously employed by a small organisation (less than 20 employees), a potential new employer may be eligible to claim a wage subsidy by employing you.

Your training contract will need to be cancelled before you are employed with a new employer. Your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider (AASN), can assist you with this.

Please note: A condition of registering is that you accept NAEN does not guarantee you a new employment outcome.

Employer Eligibility

If you have a vacancy for an apprentice or trainee, NAEN encourages you to register and post your vacancy on the portal. This will allow you to view out-of-trade apprentices and trainees who wish to find employment so they can continue their apprenticeship or traineeship.

While the government is supporting small businesses to retain their apprentices and trainees, employers of any size, including Group Training Organisations that re‑engage an eligible out‑of‑trade apprentice or trainee will be eligible for a subsidy.
