Meet Muriel Welin – an Indigenous trainee who is completing a Cert IV in Recordkeeping with HVTC while hosted to Goulburn Mulwaree Council. Muriel pursued the traineeship pathway to gain knowledge and experience in an area she is interested in and has enjoyed learning more about Council during her time with them. Her role involves the implementation of record systems, digitalising historical records, and using technology to maintain information. Muriel’s family comes from both Kalkatungu and Wakka Wakka nations, but also has connections to other Indigenous groups, including Waanyi and Noonuccal. She believes that this year’s theme encourages us to protect Australia’s cultural heritage and look after the land to ensure it can sustain us for the future.
